Putting on a Male Condom

**Always Check the Expiration date, and packaging before using. If it's expired or open, DO NOT USE IT**

ALWAYS change a condom when switching between vaginal, anal, and oral sex.

Be sure the penis is hard before applying a condom.

  1. Squeeze tip of condom between thumb and forefinger.
  2. Put the condom on the top of the penis and roll down while holding the tip. Be sure no air is between condom and penis before releasing the tip.

Removing the Condom

  1. After ejaculation, before the penis is soft, withdraw the penis while holding the condom-which keeps it from staying inside your partner.
  2. Carefully remove the condom while holding the base so no fluids spill out of the condom or onto your partner.
  3. Discard the condom into the trash, not into the toilet.

Helpful Hints

  1. Lubricating the outside of the condom can decrease the risk of breaking, especially during anal sex.
  2. Be sure to discuss whether or not your partner has a latex allergy before using a latex product.

Putting on a Female Condom

Putting on the female Condom

  1. Hold the female condom at the closed end grabbing the flexible inner ring. Squeeze it between your thumb and second or middle finger so it becomes long and narrow.
  2. Choose a position comfortable for insertion -Squat, raise one leg, sit, or lie down.
  3. Gently insert inner ring into vagina. Feel the ring go up and move into place.
  4. Place the index finger on the inside of the condom and push the inner ring up as far as it will go. Be sure the sheath is not twisted. The outer ring should remain outside the vagina or anus.
  5. The condom is now ready for use!

Removing the female condom

  1. Twist the outer ring of the condom, carefully remove and discard in the trash.

Helpful Hints

  2. Place the dam over the vulva or anus during oral stimulation.
  3. Keep the same side against the body, and do not switch between the vulva and the anus as that can cause infection.
  4. Throw away a used dental dam and do not share or reuse.
